Solutions

The knowledge assistant on your own documents first, with AI advice and three applications we build. The emphasis is on the knowledge assistant, because that is where most organisations get stuck and where the most time is to be gained.

“Why do this now instead of waiting until our supplier delivers it?”

Sometimes waiting is the right choice. Weigh this: what a supplier delivers, he delivers to all his clients at once, therefore generically, and it works on his arrangement of permissions and not on yours. For a general knowledge base that is fine. For the moment when departments with different permissions have to draw on the same system, it is usually the problem.

Flagship

A knowledge assistant on your own documents

What it is
An assistant that answers questions from your own documents, with source references, in your own environment: your own Azure tenant or fully offline on your own hardware, as equals. Staff ask a question in plain language and get an answer from the documents available to them.
Who it is for
Organisations with many written rules and files, where several departments with different access rights work in the same document landscape. Municipalities and public service organisations, and organisations in healthcare, financial services and legal services with comparable document flows.
What it delivers
Questions that are currently forwarded to a colleague who happens to know the answer get answered straight away. New staff become self-sufficient sooner. Knowledge held by people who leave stays available. And the answer points to the document, so staff can read it themselves and account for it.
What it asks of you
Access to the documents, someone who can confirm per department who may see what, and your own Azure tenant or your own hardware for the offline variant. Plus a decision maker who decides within the agreed time, because that is where delay occurs in practice.
What it costs in time
Three phases: exploration, proof of concept, production. After the exploration we name a period for the proof of concept, and not before, because that period depends on your scale. See how we work on the home page.

How we measure whether it works

An example of what we measure before anything goes into production. The same measurement points apply in the Azure tenant and in the offline variant.

Supported answers
Whether an answer rests entirely on a passage from your own documents.
Correct source reference
Whether the cited source actually contains the passage the answer rests on.
Rightly no answer
Whether the system says it does not know when the answer is not in your documents.
Authorisation test
Whether anyone can reach, through an answer, information their role has no right to. That must never succeed.
Response time
How long a user waits for an answer, measured in your own environment.
Usefulness according to users
Whether the people who work with it find the answer useful, asked of those people themselves.

besst.ai has to answer well, and also know well when not to answer.

The problem

Where every knowledge assistant breaks down

Five points. Skip one and you get a demo that convinces and a service nobody trusts.

  • Permissions

What someone may not read, they may not get to see through an answer either.

  • Provenance

Every answer points to the document and the passage it came from.

  • Staleness

A withdrawn regulation or an old version must not come back as current.

  • Silence

If the answer is not in your documents, the system says so instead of inventing something.

  • Fragmentation

Email, SharePoint, the case system and the network drive answer together, not five halves.

“How do you solve that?”

We show that in your own environment, on your own documents. Not on a website.

More questions we already know

A language model can be bought anywhere. What makes the difference is everything around it: guidance through the choices, setup in your own environment, control over what goes in, testing before it goes into use, management once it runs, and knowledge of the organisational context it has to work in. That is what the services below are about.

AI advice and strategy

From first exploration to a supported course and a board that knows what it is saying yes to. We translate AI into decisions a management team or council can take: what it delivers, what it costs, what risk it carries and in what order.

Relevant when: support at board level is needed before anything gets built, or when initiatives are already running that nobody has an overview of.

Document processing

Forms, contracts and scans read automatically, classified and passed on to the system where they belong.

Relevant when: mail or forms arrive daily that are currently retyped by hand.

Data and analytics

From raw data to overview, forecast and decision support, with the reporting your board asks for.

Relevant when: the figures exist but sit in four systems and every report is manual work.

Process automation

Workflows that read, assess and pass on by themselves, with a human at the point where a human should decide.

Relevant when: a process mainly consists of moving something from one system to another.

Technical

Two runtime environments. In an Azure tenant we work with Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Azure AI Document Intelligence, Azure Machine Learning, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Power Automate, Microsoft Entra and Azure Static Web Apps. Infrastructure as code with Bicep, deployment through Azure DevOps.

Offline, the same setup runs on your own hardware with open-weight models. There it uses no cloud services and no Microsoft products.

We show it in your own environment. Without internet too, on a laptop at your table.
